Project title: A Virtual Research Assistant for the next generation of sky surveys

PI: Stephen Smartt

Starting 2024, the Rubin Observatory will record the most exhaustive sky-survey humanity has ever undertaken: it will detect the explosions of stars hundreds of millions of light-years away, seeing 10 million new events each night.  The project will create a model that is intelligent enough to serve as a virtual research assistant and allow human scientists to fully exploit this revolutionary source of astrophysical data.
